A scene set in a dimly lit previously quiet restaurant a child screaming at the top of his lungs, a frantic mother and indecision. While customers glance at their table, the mother gives into the child’s tantrum and orders a large cheese pizza. The mother hoped to have a lovely steak dinner that night but unfortunately, she knew her six-year-old would only eat one-fifth of his meal so she would have to finish the rest. In a world filled with compromises, food is something that should not be a part of this equation.
Now with the availability of kid’s menu in numerous restaurants, this problem can be avoided. The portioning of sizes alongside a varied selection of food items designed for children allows them to enjoy and complete their meal.
The kid’s menu at most restaurants star items such as pizzas, momos, spaghetti, burgers, potatoes (five different ways) and finally the part of the menu most alluring to children the delectable dessert and drinks from the frothy strawberry milkshakes to melting choco lava cakes. Restaurants like the Dalle Restaurant even offer combo platters that contain small quantities of kid’s favorites: chicken nuggets, some momos and fries for a reasonable price. Some restaurants give parents searching for a healthier alternative for their child to choose to switch items accordingly in the combo platter to either a green salad or a fruit cup.
Restaurants carried by Foodmandu which offer a kid’s menu include Evoke, Dalle, Mezze, Crust Pizza, Hotel Imperial Kathmandu and many more. From the comfort of your home, you can satisfy your child’s cravings without having a bunch of food leftover. While in the Nepali community it is normal for families to coddle their children until they are practically fully grown, by giving them this small taste of independence of choosing and having their meal, they will grow to be less dependent on others. Hence, I advise the parents out there to order off the kid’s menu and restaurants to design one if not for anything to possibly avoid any temper tantrums from sobbing children coming your way.
